History of the Michigan State Police Houghton Lake Post

  2. To add to the history. There is about 2 tons of marijuana buried in the front yard of the post. One summer, can't remember for sure possibly 1976 the troopers raided a cultivated field of marijuana. They brought the results in on a semi, lansing didn't want it we couldn't get it in the property room and the though of burning it didn't seem like a good idea. The result was that we rented a back hoe, dug a large hole in front of the post and buried it. This story was superseded by the raid conducted from pontoon boats in the presents of a 60 minute film crew that came to film a segment for the show. This raid was preformed under the leadership of the late trooper Dave Perkin and DSgt Ed Hancock.
